1/12/12-- 1/15/12 Unexpected weekend plans

Sometimes the unplanned goes better than the planned!
We had been bemoaning the fact that winter will soon be upon us, making 'run-a-ways' unlikely.
Also that we had no impending plans of doing anything.
This was on a Wednesday, which also lasted until Thursday morning.
Hubby stuck home-bound with broken leg, and me with work being totally dead.
Thursday morning I requested the afternoon and Friday off and was approved. (love my boss!)
Went home and sang "I don't have to be me till Monday.." as I walked in the door! Called our
favorite get a way place - Turning Stone Casino & Resort - and got a 'coupon / free' room for the night.
Quickly packed and we were OUTTA HERE for an overnight.

We knew we were returning the next day, as I was supposed to babysit the 4 grandsons while my daughter
& son-in-law went out to dinner. We also had oil change scheduled for 8am on Saturday on the
car. Anyway, I always pack for an extra night - just in case! Good thing I did!

We got up Friday morning to a winter wonderland! Visibility was about zero. I quickly convinced my
husband that our plans to go home would probably need to be changed. First thought was to call
down to the desk to see if they could accommodate us another night - in the same room - with another
free coupon. (We each get a monthly overnight free coupon) Thankfully, they could! YAY!!

So...another day of Bingo..relaxing and not very crowded! Had to change the oil change appt. to
next Sat. (1/21) and will have to reschedule watching the boys.

Saturday we slept in and did the Emerald for brunch. Got TS Calendars with $5 free play..then we
took off towards home. Grabbed some more clothes, got the mail, papers, etc. After about 45 minutes, we were back on the road again!

This time we were off to Fort Erie in Canada. We had this booked before going to Turning Stone.
We got to the Comfort in Fort Erie. One other car in whole parking lot. Turns out it belonged to the
guy at the check in desk. He did say there were a couple of other rooms booked for the night.
Strange. Thoughts of the Shining came to mind.

We decided to nix bingo and the desk clerk gave us directions and $10 free play coupons to go
to the race track. We had been there for lunch before and thought it a good place to get dinner.
Turns out we got $15 in free play, plus $10.99 Prime Rib dinner coupons. NICE! We had a
great dinner and spend about an hour playing on the slots. We then headed back to hotel for an early night
this time! LOL (Thurs & Fri nights we were not to bed before 1am!)

We were sleeping by 10:30 this night and slept in until after 8am! Apparently we needed it!
Anyway..we went down for breakfast - the only ones there - and hit the road to Niagara Falls
by 10am. We went to Seneca Niagara Casino and used our free play coupons, then went to
3 Sisters for nice Sunday dinner. (yep, we had enough points to cover our meal).

The only food we paid for, from the time of leaving home on Thursday, was the prime rib dinner.
All the rest of the food was 'comped'.  Coupons for free plays, and coupons for Bingo discounts .ahhh..nice....and all 3 nights were free at the hotels, too!
Our Comfort Inn was with the last of Mark's reward points there. ahhh...love 3.5 days / 3 nights
away from home - priceless!
:-)
